Outdoor Idaho Shoots Part of Its Motorized Idaho Segment at the St.Anthony Sand Dunes

For some years now, I've been a huge fan of PBS's Outdoor Idaho. It was a real surprise when John Crancer, Outdoor Idaho's lead producer, contacted me for help filming a program segment on the local St. Anthony duners. Of course, I jumped at the chance as did many of the locals at SA. John and his cameraman Chuck showed up on July 27th for some initial shots of the general area. I drove them and their gear around that evening. The weather was perfect and we got some fantastic shots. The next morning we all met at the BLM Day Parking at 7:15 AM. We all started out there as the day started warming up and finished some 6 hours later around the hottest part of the day at Chokecherry. Quads, rails, a couple of rock crawlers, and one bike all filed down the dunes from the Egin Lakes, back and forth, as John and Chuck had us run the course multiple times. Some people had to drop out as we went along but most made it to Choke. It took a lot of patience (especially when it really heated up) and everyone was a real good sport about it when things got somewhat tedious. The really tragic part of the whole thing was that my camera's battery, for some reason, wouldn't work right soon after we started out Saturday morning. I only got a few pics (below) and missed a lot of really great stuff. However, it was a great time and a fantastic opportunity and the show will air sometime in December of 07.
