Rainy Memorial Weekend Saturday 2006

Here in SouthEast Idaho, rainy blustery weather is pretty much the norm on Memorial weekend. You plan for rain and cold but hope for sunshine. Unfortunately, this Memorial Weekend Saturday turned out to be mid 40's with drizzling rain. Not a surprise but a disappointment, all the same. Here are some pics from the full campgrounds, where everyone "holed up" waiting for the rain to stop. Some didn't wait but didn't seem to stay out very long. Later in the day the rain seemed to slow down to a sprinkle here and there but I could see my breath at 7:00 p.m. while grilling the hotdogs.

This is looking out at the Oasis dry-camp with the hookups there in the background.

The Egin Lakes BLM Campground was completely full and completely wet.

Some just couldn't wait and went out regardless of the rain.

Others found a little entertainment in camp.

Here's a kid on the east end just pickin it up after layin it down.

The Sand Hills resort sorta resembled a rain forest.

Someone had a little time on their hands.

Banners were flyin'.

This youngster spun down to the dryer sand below.

Looks like a quiet day at the SandHills but just imagine the roar of engines and you'll get the real picture.
