The National Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council

September 17, 2005

In an attempt to get the Saint Anthony Sand Dunes area released from its Wilderness Study Area status, the NOHVCC, the BLM, and some of the local entrepeneurs gathered at the Egin Lakes parking area for a pow wow and a dune buggy trip down to Chokecherry. The DuneRatt WebMaster (yours truly) just happened to show up a the onset to take some photos. The meeting's agenda was to familiarize the folks at NOHVCC with the St. Anthony Sand Dunes and get their assistance in promoting the area. Bill Boggs, the local BLM administrator attended as well as the local Fremont County dune cops. Mark "Squeak" Rydalch from Dune Excursions just happened to have an extra 400 and convinced me and my Nevados loafers to ride along. He also had a spare helmet and gloves so I wasn't totally without protection. I got some photos of the meeting but sadly had nowhere to pack my camera on the ride. An AWSOME time was had by all!!!

Read the NOHVCC account in their newsletter.

Some of the local sandrailers were asked to come and give rides.

Presentations were made by Bill Boggs of the BLM, Joe Manly of the Fremont County SD.

Mark's wheelers are on the trailer at the far right. Being the stud that he is, he gave me the privelage of riding Dune Excursion's brand new '05 Suzi. I was totally blown away at how well it ran the dunes without paddles.

The NOHVCC explained there mission and programs.

Bill Boggs made a presentation of the St. Anthony Sand Dunes and surrounding area.

The local sandrailers and Bill decide who will ride with whom.
